Mission Statement:

The North Carolina Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine was chartered in 1987 and charged with several purposes:

• To encourage and foster the healing arts of acupuncture and Oriental medicine.
• To assist in establishing acupuncture laws and codes to protect the interests of the public as well as the interests of qualified acupuncturists.
• To encourage and promote the upgrading of skills and abilities of acupuncturists by sponsoring continuing education programs.
• To encourage the formation of acupuncture schools and institutes.
• To promote and assist research in acupuncture and Oriental medicine.
• To educate the public regarding the nature and scope of acupuncture.

As a member of NCAAOM you will be in on the ongoing discussions affecting the future and vitality of acupuncture in North Carolina. Your voice will count in setting the directions of our profession with regard to such important issues as continuing education, insurance, scope of practice, and the direction of health care in our state and nation. It is largely through the efforts of the NCAAOM that North Carolina Acupuncture Licensing Bill was designed and passed in the legislature.
